“we will remember that there is something happening in America;
that we are not as divided as our politics suggests;
that we are one people;
we are one nation;
and together, we will begin the next great chapter in America’s story with three words that will ring from coast to coast;
from sea to shining sea – Yes. We. Can.”

This is obviously inspiring and Dr.-Martin-Luther-King-esque. It’s obvious to me why people clung to his hope and voted for him. Let’s face it; it was between him and John McCain, and republicans don’t even like John McCain. If I’m going to be REAL honest about it, I never came across ANYONE who actually said, “I really like John McCain and his politics.” Nope, not one person. People LOVE Obama. LOVE him. I can’t blame them; he’s a pretty lovable guy, and this election was laden with emotion. In light of all this, in my opinion, we needed Obama to be our next president, if only for the morale of the nation. I think that if McCain had won we would stand divided and discontented. People were looking for more than just a president this year; I believe they really did vote for hope when they cast their ballot. Now Obama, with the weight of the world’s expectations on his shoulders, has to find a way to mold politics into the shape of that hope, and MY hope is that he succeeds.

<3 Jess PS- Thanks, brother, for finding and showing me that video and sharing your thoughts. Love you. "i was surfing around the web, and i came across this. and it really hit home. i came to a conclusion i have been fighting with for a while, do i want to run toward a few morals i hold dear, or go toward something that will unite people. im sure you understand why i struggled, my morals are dear to me, but i know that when a nation of people are united we can accomplish more than we could ever imagine. i saw this video, and i came to the conclusion that obama was a good thing for us. this nation is not built off of one man, or president cant do anything without the support of us the people. if mcain was elected it would have left us divided just as the last 8 years. but with obama i see an opportunity for us to all join together and be as one. maybe im just being irrational, but i dont think mcain could have done that for us. thought id just share." --T.
